Overcoming The Lies Of The Enemy (Lie#1)

One of the amazing ways to overcome an enemy is to expose its tactics. Deception is one tactic that the devil has used on many believers over and over again. From the beginning, the devil has been called the father of lies. He always has been a deceiver from the beginning and he continues to be the deceiver until the end of time.

Lie #1: That you are insignificant in the Kingdom of God and you couldn’t possibly make any difference.

This great lie has simply made many believers feel indifferent toward the church and their Christian walk here on earth. It is not true and goes against what God’s word says about God’s purpose for each and every one of us.

We are God’s handiwork

When I got to understand what being Christ’s workmanship meant, it became much clearer to me. That, indeed, every believer does have a part to play in the sovereign plan of God. “Workmanship” in the Greek is “poiema”, meaning “works of God as creator,” “God’s product or project,” and “God’s handiwork.” . As believers, we are the works of God’s hand, and he created us with a purpose and a plan in mind. There is a work that he has intended for us to fulfill here on earth. So the lie that we don’t really make a difference to the church is ridiculous. There is a function that everyone who has been born of God plays in the overall plan of God.

You are not insignificant. You are actually very significant and are very much needed. Your gifts are needed, your talent is needed, your experience is needed, your ideas and overall presence are needed in order for the whole body to function as it should. So let’s live boldly with confidence, knowing that we are part of a whole body. The church needs us and that can only function effectively if each and every one of us plays our parts.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:10

One of the lies I almost believed about this blog for a few months was that it made no difference if I continued to write or not. The enemy kept whispering to me that there are already so many faith-based bloggers who are successful. However, God used many people that used to faithfully follow and read my blog posts. It encouraged me to get back to it and to keep writing no matter what. Now, imagine if I had just stayed silent and yielded to the lies of the devil.

Renewing Our Minds

To truly overcome these lies of the enemy, we need to renew our minds with the Word of Truth. We use the phrase “renew your mind” all the time, but what does it actually mean? The interlinear bible uses words such as “to renovate” and “to make a complete change for the better”. It’s a transformational thing. It’s a complete mind makeover. It begins by feeding our minds with the truth every single day. Soon enough, all the lies of the enemy will become less potent. These lies will continue to fizzle out and be replaced by the Word of Truth.

I pray that you are able to overcome this deception from the enemy. That you receive the deliverance that comes by the Word of God, in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
